Review of Any Given Sunday (1999) by Coley G — 12 Feb 2012

You know this Oliver Stone sports epic was actually pretty fun. Take out the fact that this movie has an ALLSTAR lineup and it may flop a bit, but keeping the actors and actresses in mind makes for an enjoyable movie for sure.

But the movie generally and for almost all of the 2 hours 37 minutes fails in it's points. Sure it makes good points; It shows dynamic relations not only in families but in extended or "created" families like those that footballs teams share.

I am finding it hard to write a solid review on this. I did enjoy many of the football aspects because I am... well let's face it a football nut but I was also a little enraged by the usual suspects that accompany professional sports.

I will finish on what the movie does the best:

It shows what football PROBABLY does look like behind the cameras, the shoulder pads, and the agents editing statements.

Like previous reviews I could probably bash the movie for another 2100 words but I'll just stick with my usual finisher.

The movie is worth the 2.37hour run time, but multiple watches may be unnecessary due to the repetitive and slow nature of the movie. So watch it once, critique it, enjoy the cast, and take from it what you will.
