The Story of Anvil is simultaneously an amazing celebration of friendship, perseverance, superfans, and a heartbreaking look at one duos disastrous career. Anvil lays bare the struggles of two polar opposite personalities and the labor of love that is their band Anvil.
Superfan and friend Sacha Gervasi gains full access to document the thirty year partnership between lead singer "Lips" and drummer Robb Reiner as they do whatever it takes to keep their band alive.
Considered pioneers of metal by many Anvil was one of those bands that just fell by the wayside. Lips for one never got over that and both lead members never lost their creative drive or desire to make it big.
This provides many moments of quirkiness as we see much documentation of diehard fandom and road warrior spirit but it is also painful to see these guys continuously fail as they are portrayed as really nice guys.
Whether you are a metal fan or not or a documentary fan or not Anvil:The Story of Anvil is well worth checking out.
