Review of Anvil! The Story of Anvil (2008) by Josh D — 02 Jun 2011

I thought I was watching a film like Spinal Tap, where the band is imaginary, formed for the purpose of making the film. I really enjoyed the film, and I thought I was watching a genius comedy, amazing film. With a brilliant script. A+.

So anyway, just as the final credits roll, my wife searched the film and band on the website, and told me that the band Anvil is a real band. R-E-A-L. I had been watching a documentary, not a comedy. KABOOM!

I instantly realized that I had watched an entirely different film that I thought I was watching. My film world was turned upside down in a split second -- I laughed so hard that I cried.

This was truly one of the (unintentionally) fantastic experiences of watching a film. This is a good band that deserves a break ... I'm buying their album.
