Review of Anvil! The Story of Anvil (2008) by Jon O — 24 Jun 2011

So this one took me totally by surprise. I thought I was going to be watching some kind of mockumentary, but this is actually a true documentary of a real band. Never heard of these guys before but they are a Canadian metal band who were one of the pioneers of the speed metal movement in the early 80's.

Unfortunately they never got their due in terms of sales and success. They are still performingand making albums hoping that somehow they get the recognition they deserve. You really get to know and feel for these guys who are obviously very talented, but have been passed by time and time again.

It's actually painful to watch them play their hearts out in front of such small crowds. A great movie!
