Review of Anuvahood (2011) by Vanessa S — 31 Aug 2011
Everything that the inbetweeners movie did for my opinion of British comedy, has been instantly undone by this drivel.
Many who watch this will not comprehend that it's intended to be a hilarious take on the gritty, grime world of south London as represented in movies such as adulthood and kidulthood. This is largely because it's difficult to actually pay attention to the nonsense that is unfolding in the "plot" for this movie.
There are very brief moments of hilarity usually involving the roided up, gangster character who speaks with a lisp, presumably for comedy effect. In reality, his shouting and rasping actualy makes it impossible to understand his random outbursts which in turn, is funny for the wrong reasons.
If you are one of the few niches that represent south London "massive" and you use the word "blud" after every sentence, you may take some enjoyment from this. Moreover, you may actually recognise some of the uk grime cameos, who I missed completely as I am unfamiliar (thankfully) with this genre.
However, if you are a normal, fully functioning human, capable of a few cognitive processes, you will probably hate this.
