Review of Antiviral (2012) by Andrei D — 17 Jun 2013
Innovative, yet reminiscent of his father on the body horror front.
The acting was spot on, only a few minor mis-steps, but easily forgiven due to the uniqueness and ingenuity of the film.
It wasn't perfect, but it was an awesome look at pop culture fanaticism, with a great mix of sci ti and horror.
Made me think this strange future could exist in some form... ie. like those girls that cut themselves when Justin Bieber got caught smoking marijuana, stating they would stop cutting when he stopped smoking pot.
The cinematography / imagery was simple but aesthetically pleasing considering the topic.
I'm giving it 5 stars not because it was perfect, it wasn't. but it was a great debut feature film from a new filmmaker. and, personally I loved it. as much as you can love something this grotesque.
