Review of Antiviral (2012) by Gary W — 08 Aug 2013
Driving it's way under your skin until it's deep within your system, this body horror feature is emotionally involving, and catalogues an astounding performance from newcomer Caleb Jones (X men first class).
It seems that creatively disturbing gene runs in the Cronenberg family with David's son fit for the task of bring us something confronting, grotesque and cringe worthy. The film is coated with such style as to remind us of Dvid Cronenberg's films, whilst being stylistically unique to detach the family as individual creative persons.
This said, the film can be boring at times and is in the habit of repeating already-established concepts to it's audience in an almost monotone and tedious manner, but for a debut, Cronenberg junior really hit the mark.
