The titular main character is a The Consummate MAN-EATER (an EATING-MACHINE, an ANTHROPOPHAGUS)-he even ends-up gorging upon his own intestines by the film's end.

ANTHROPOPHAGUS THE BEAST is a true MAN-EATING MACHINE (again, sigh, an ANTHRO-POPH-AGUS. The Fetus is actually a skinned-rabbit drenched in blood; when I first saw the uncut fetus-ripping scene, it looked to be so gory it seemed as though it would be considered por ... no ... graphic:

Starring George Eastman (aka Luigi Monteforie).

Even though most "mainstream" Americans think that ALL foreign Horror Movies "lack" . . . no AMERICAN horror movie has featured a guy eating a woman's fetus before.

I mean: "Mainstream" Americans read Magazines like The New Republic, The Nation, TIME, NEWSWEEK, they watch CNN and/or listen to NPR . . .

But none of The Media Americans are exposed to mention films like ANTHROPOPHAGUS that genuinely take HORROR to a greater extreme.

Sometimes I think of AMERICA as "The Iron Curtain".

. . . NEVER are films such as Anthropophagus (also known as THE GRIM REAPER), Cannibal Apocalypse (aka INVASION OF THE FLESH HUNTERS), INCUBO NELLA CITTI CONTAMANATA (aka NIGHTMARE CITY aka CITY OF THE WALKING DEAD) discussed on NPR (National Public Radio) or CNN or in Entertainment Weekly and yet AMERICA seems to pride itself as being some kind of Supreme Country of Political and Moral Correctness while totally ignoring the goings-on beyond its borders.

For instance, someone wrote that TRUE BLOOD definitively features VAMPIRES of the 21st Century; an American journalist made that statement about a tv show produced here in America.

"The Twenty-First Century" is occurring ALL over the world, yet somehow an AMEICAN TV show suddenly becomes the international precedent in gauging VAMPIRES of the 21St Century.

So, the argument could be advanced to support that, because some American Journalist never mentions ANTHROPOPHAGUS that Anthropophagus isn't legitimate because an American never mentioned it.

---Even though Media Blasters' DVD is a definitive-commercial release of Anthropophagus, the MIDNIGHT VIDEO video-cassette that runs the AMERICAN-language soundtrack (there are both English and American soundtracks) over the French-Print of SAVAGE ISLAND remains my favorite because the Media Blasters print eliminates the sound of the fetus' cry when its being ripped-out by ANTHROPOPHAGUS .

--the soundtrack is destabilizing: trite; it uses a classical-music Russian "polka" (entitled: Padre Snaturato for its main-title sequence .

Anthropophagus is one of the most disgusting movies ever made and so is CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST yet both movies have the lamest music: RIZ Ortalini's score for Cannibal Holocaust sounds like 1980s Elevator-MUZAK.

(most people reading this don't know what muzak is, I'll bet; Muzak is a system of music relegated to department stores orchestrated to encourage people to shop . . . I used to think it was the radio playing in department stores but its actually a MUZAK broadcast system).

Even though Everybody (especially the 30-million Americans who consume American-media) would say ANTHROPOHAGUS THE BEAST is too disgusting and would probably ignore it, I LOVE IT!

To me, HORROR MOVIES are like HUGE ROLLER-COASTER RIDES with loops and twists and turns to TOTALLY FUCK-UP your perception of the world for around 90 or so minutes . . .

Hey, I grew-up (sort of) in our family's funeral home (scrubbing the morgue, taking trips down to the Medical Examiner's Office to get bodies out of the giant refrigerators of "unclaimed" bodies) . . .

To me most Americans seem too PUSSY about dealing with The Macabre and Gruesomeness and stuff . . . everyone needs to take a trip to their local metropolitan Medical Examiner's office to see stuff never discussed on/in stupid-NPR, The Nation, The New Republic, TIME, Newsweek, CNN, et. Al.

Anthropophagus must be seen;.

And Anthropophagus must be appreciated for the HORROR CLASSIC it still remains as being today.
