Review of Anthropoid (2016) by Carole P — 12 Aug 2016
We liked it. It is a hard movie to watch in that it is based on true events and the actual assassination footage was true to history according to my history buff husband. I was lucky to get his input about the horrid aftermath, the massacre of an entire town, leveling it as if it never existed.
Also in play was the background of the hierarchy of the Nazi party and how it affected this incident. The fact remains that the underground movement was brave, relentless against huge odds but they fought on.
All I know is that when this movie was over, nobody in the theater moved. Granted we were basically an older audience and had parents involved in WWII but the adage that if we don't study or heed history, we are bound to repeat it really hit home.
We've been to Prague where this beautiful city was featured. These people persevered, as did the city and we are left with hope that maybe we have learned something from this horrible time of our history.
We all suffer if brutes are allowed to destroy or take over.
