Review of Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) by Oliver W — 05 Oct 2018
Not a terribly strong addition to the MCU. While it has a lot of humor which falls quite flat, some of it sticks, and it does have at least certain dramatic scenes which tug at the heartstrings.
With that said, a fair amount of what we see falls into predictable outcomes typical of the genre, as well as some unexpected outcomes that, while likely pulled directly from comic material, absolutely stretches the, (to be fair reasonable well-stretched) suspension of disbelief. In other words, without getting into spoilers, some things absolutely demand an explanation for the rather lazy 'Deus ex machina' solutions that pop out of nowhere.
PS: The post-credits scene was nice, and alludes to the current state of the MCU which is at an all-time state of intrigue.
