Review of Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) by Gavin A — 10 Oct 2018
Antman and The Wasp, though better than the original, was not an amazing movie. It was a pretty good movie, however. The CGI, characters, and humor seemed to fall into place seamlessly, but it seemed to follow the Marvel schematics for any movie in the franchise.
The climax was an interesting spectacle, but the outcome could already be predicted due to the nature of Marvel. The end credits scenes seemed more like an attempt to show that Ant-man would be in Avengers 4, instead of a horror-esc situation that he is put in (being stuck in the quantum realm).
The antagonist is a very unlikable person, even though they try to give her some type of character arc. I know that she is supposed to be hated or disliked because she is the antagonist, but that isn't the case.
The antagonist in this movie is unlikable from the beginning and her backstory does nothing to try and make the audience show some sympathy for her. The aspect of the ex-con security company doesn't seem to serve a purpose except to show that they couldn't find jobs due to their history and decided to make their own company, even though it is near bankruptcy until the very end when they are saved upon the grace of the media covering their "heroism" in the final battle.
Overall Ant-man and The Wasp is an enjoyable film for the fans of Marvel, but for an objective audience, the film is nothing stellar, but still interesting to watch.
