Review of Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) by Kian H — 12 Aug 2018
This movie was a nice change of pace coming off of Avengers:Infinity War. However, this is also a problem. There are times when the film relies simply on the fact that it is a fun marvel movie and so certain plot elements are skimmed over or not explained at all.
I'll admit that for the most of the run time I was entertained and most of the jokes landed for me. Evangeline Lilly really shines here as she is given a much larger and more pivotal role. The problem with this is that the other titular character Ant-man, frequently takes a back seat and honestly could come across as annoying and unnecessary at times.
I personally found the villain to be very compelling but nowhere near as compelling as Josh Brolin's Thanos or Michael B Jordan's Killmonger. Overall, the performances were all excellent with Kirk Douglas stealing the show for me.
This movie was entertaining but not as good as the first in my opinion. I do recommend this film as I do believe it is worth the watch as there are some very powerful moments. I just think that some characters could have been taken out or given less screen time to fix many of the problems here.
