Review of Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) by John D — 29 Jul 2018
I was hoping to see Scott Lang put his burglary skills to good use, but it seems like the filmmakers forgot this crucial aspect from the first film. There's no clear villain, and the huge amount of verbal exposition and forced jokes really bogs the film down.
Lawrence Fishburne and Michelle Pfeiffer are pretty much wasted, and there's a few weird jump cuts that make it feel like this film was saved in post production. They don't even explain how Janet survived in the quantum realm for 30 years.
It's just accepted and everyone moves on. Janet's healing powers are also not explained. There are some funny moments, but there's a lot of unfunny jokes. Overall, just disappointing.
