Review of Ant-Man (2015) by Ken S — 02 Feb 2016
I'm growing increasingly tired of Marvel, and really Superhero films in general. Ant-Man is one in which my interest level was super low. The trailer made it look like standard Marvel fare - some quips from a charming leading man, some speeches about how much greatness he is destined for, and eventually a big crazy fight with a villain that is essentially some variation on the theme of the hero.
And it is all that...only it is mixed with big dose of generic heist movie plots too. It isn't really terrible, but I felt nothing throughout most of it. I like Rudd, I like Douglas, I think there were some neat ideas mixed in.
But just like most things Marvel, it just felt like another cog in the machine. I didn't hate this, but it felt average, very much a been there done that sort of deal. I am at a point were it doesn't feel like I need to actually see these Marvel flicks anymore.
I think I'll give the next Captain America movie a shot...but if it doesn't really blow me away it might be time for me to just bow out.
