Review of Ant-Man (2015) by Conner N — 30 Nov 2016
Holy fudge was this film good. Who would've thought that a film about Ant-Man would be this awesome? It's well-written, it's wonderfully acted, the effects are pretty good, the characters are likeable, and the action is more fun than most would think.
The one thing I enjoyed most about this film is Paul Rudd's performance. I thought it was extremely charming. I like how sympathetic and determined Scott is, and how much he loves his daughter. Some people have complained about the fact that Hank Pym's Ant-Man isn't the one we focus on, but honestly I don't care.
Another really great thing about this movie is the comedy. This film is hilarious. Not everything gets a laugh but most of them do. The drama is done moderately well and the other actors do a good job too, especially Michael Douglas.
I liked the shots and angles in which Scott is small. The only few problems I had with the film is one, the boring villain. Two, I felt that Scott and Hope's romance was a bit too forced. And three, the film does feel a little predictable and cliche, but it's still executed well enough.
Nonetheless, I just had a blast with this flick. It may not be one of the MCU's best, but Ant-Man is undeniably entertaining and lots of fun.
