Review of Ant-Man (2015) by Peter F — 07 May 2017
By now, Marvel's cinematic universe is becoming noticeably by-the-numbers in their approach, but Ant-Man manages to be a bit innovative. Essentially a heist film with superheroes, Ant-Man sports plenty of fun break-in scenes, and Edgar Wright's limited involvement in the film shows through its sense of wit and slight genre send-ups.
Paul Rudd also shows that he can make for a fine action hero here, even if his co-star Evangeline Lily comes off just as dull as she did in her Lost-days. Uneven pacing keeps this from being one of Marvel's better-entrees, but it's actually more fun and manageable than Avengers: Age of Ultron.
