Review of Ant-Man (2015) by Simon P — 10 Feb 2016
I must say it surpassed my expectations. The best way to describe it was Winter Soldier meets Guardians of the Galaxy. Winter Soldier was in essence a spy thriller, and a thoroughly watchable movie regardless of the "superhero" element.
Guardians was more the archetype Disney Marvel offering, being fun, witty, cool, and family friendly. Ant-Man was essentially a bit of both as this was a heist movie with a family-friendly Disney vibe - and it was probably the most comedic Marvel has managed to date.
Solid all-round film, and worth a watch even for those who are not Marvel or comic book fans. It transcends the genre sufficiently to draw a wider crowd, with Paul Rudd's appeal doing for Ant-Man what Chris Pratt did for Guardians.
