The film has so much potential with such a stellar cast, but alas, the script is too manipulative, and the characters too unlikable. Another Happy Day tries to channel Lars von Trier in terms of its characters and story ( complicated, fucked-up, cruel nature of us human beings), but it comes off too intentional and pretentious.
The characters are dark but not fleshed-out, and the tone is too uneven.
