Review of Another Earth (2011) by Rocky G — 06 Jun 2012
This movie starts off with a great premise, but by the end of it all it just falters. The whole thing about having the other Earth brings about the thought of choices. We are given just enough information to know that the people on the other Earth are the same as us.
They were born on the same date and even experienced the same things we have. But then it is brought to mind that the slightest variation can change everything and it is setup about what it would be like to talk to yourself.
This movie has some very heavy subjects it covers, and it does so in a pretty good manner. It isn't really over the top great, as it deals with things that any comic book fan or watcher of dramatic media has seen a dozen times; tragedy, loss, punishment, redemption, but it is the ending where you want to get some sort of, any payoff and it just isn't there.
And there really isn't any subtext or underlying material anywhere that makes me think of what happens after the credits roll.
