Review of Another Earth (2011) by Lionel L — 10 Jan 2012
It's kind of a tease because the sci/fi is brushed over and used as a poetic "what if" device. It keeps sci/fi fans interested with some philosophical voiceovers from the media during scene transitions, but the real story is about a brooding girl trying to make amends for a horrible accident that was her fault, but things get awkward and complex in the process.
An interesting relationship develops and suspense builds about how the truth will out. Ultimately though, it doesn't have much to offer story-wise, besides a badass saw solo. It has a pretty tight ending, but it just teases you with more sci/fi elements that aren't fleshed out more than a cliffhanger.
It's a bit of false advertising, but a decent drama.
