Review of Anonymous (2011) by Wade W — 28 Dec 2011
Avoid at all costs unless you want to see history completely butcherised for the sake f Hollywood glamour. Historical liberties are taken in every period film but the writers of Anonymous decided to ignore common sense completely and writer their own version of Tudor England.
The film tries to convince us that Shakespeare was a fraud and Qeen Elizabeth the First ("The Virgin Queen") was having illegitimate children at the drop of a hat and then sleeping with her grandchildren! Guess this is what happens when you let the director of disaster flicks try to direct an English period drama.
Pity decent actors like Rhys Ifans and Vanessa Redgrave let themselves get dragged down by this crap.
