Review of Anonymous (2011) by David J — 13 Feb 2012
This well woven story captures the excitement and spirit of William Shakespeare in this Elizabethan Era drama as it weaves an incestuous tale that discounts Shakespeare as the true author of his work and credits Edward de Vere, Earl of Oxford as the source of Shakespeare's writings.
An impromptu creation of verse about truth heightens your suspension of disbelief, but I take it as an indication that this tale is proposed for dramatic sake. The film is well played, shot, presented, and makes you really wonder if this is the true story.
A somewhat scandalous scene of Queen Elizabeth being seduced by words into performing a brief moment of oral sex was very titillating!
