Review of Anonymous (2011) by Ryan S — 19 Apr 2012
The premise of this film had me extremely intrigued as I am a fan of Shakespeare. Unfortunately, the film left me wanting something which it didn't deliver. The concept of whether or not Shakespeare wrote the works he is credited for is used as a plot device while the film unfolds as a historical account of romance, wrangling & underhanded dealings during Elizabeth I's reign.
The CGI set pieces were well done but the film itself, as a whole, left me feeling hollow and not caring in the slightest about the conspiracy theory.
