Review of Anonymous (2011) by James C — 15 Apr 2013
So apparently "Anonymous" would have you believe William Shakespeare didn't write all those plays, poems and sonnets. Fine. But by making Shakespeare a silly clown of an actor, the film undercuts what could have been a better film.
Shame too because there's a great cast here and some nice costumes & sets. My other complaint is the narrative is very confusing, a flashback structure within a flashback structure. I felt like I was watching "Inception" for awhile and that dingy sepia-toned look that the photography had just made a lot of it look like mud.
