This is, indeed, one of the most human films that doesn't even star humans in it. Anomalisa is a stop-motion animation movie that follows Michael, a man who thinks everyone is the same and that there's nothing interesting in life, who goes to Cincinnati for a business confference.

There, he finds accommodation in a hotel where he meets a woman, Lisa, who is unlike any other. He immediately falls in love with her and she with him. It may not sound like a story that's entirely special, but the way the movie presents this story, is.

There are 3 voice actors in total. One voicing Michael, one voicing Lisa and the third one voicing everyone else. We see the world through Michael's perspective. Everyone has literally the exact same voice and a very similar face.

Except for Lisa. She is the only one who stands out in this repetitive and monotonous world and has managed to win over the heart of Michael. The ending of the movie is very depressing and heartbreaking.

Just when you thought everything was going to be fine, crap hits the fan. The animation is beyond amazing! At times, it's easy to forget you're watching a movie with puppets! Everything is surprisingly detailed and that just adds to the atmosphere of the movie.

The voice acting is great and the characters are very well portrayed. Although there is one scene of sexual nature that was very uncomfortable... All in all, a perfect movie with amazing animation, great voice acting and touching and thoughtful story.

I would highly recommend to check this movie out, and I sincerely hope it gets, at least, an Oscar nomination.
