Review of Anomalisa (2015) by Carolyn C — 05 Feb 2016

I'll be honest, this is pretty painful to watch, just one awkward scene after another. It's a very odd movie and I can't say that I enjoyed it - certainly not as much as Synecdoche or Eternal Sunshine. It's not a comedy, unless you find middle aged depression, alcoholism, lechery, and self-loathing hilarious.

It probably sounds like I hated the movie, and I thought I did while watching it, but I have actually thought about it a couple times since and it does have depth and something to say. I can't recommend it but I don't regret seeing it.
