1/2 star out of 5 stars. Sorry, can't go along with the crowd on this one. Saw the film two months ago at a director Q&A, and while I'm a huge Charlie Kaufman fan, this is a really tedious film to sit through.

A commentary on the banality of life, many people have called it. Well, banal in this case is just boring. Yes, the two years it took to make a stop motion film is an impressive commitment. But it's based on a radio and 2 character stage play about a one night stand in Ohio during a routine business trip. That's it for 90 minutes.

From the man who created "Being John Malkovich," "Adaptation," "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," and "Synecdoche, New York," you expect a lot more. Even the sex scene between puppets is embarrassing, with none of the "Team America" humor. Watching this film, waiting for it to catch fire, is like watching paint dry.
