Review of Anomalisa (2015) by Bruce K — 17 Jan 2016
It's probably too strange and weird to all take in in one viewing, and I do think the script is somewhat problematic in its second act. Part of me wants to believe that because of the extremely tedious and torturous process of its production in claymation, it seems to abrupt a short stop in its story when it could have expanded much more.
But it's hard to ignore the amount of beautiful, uncomfortable while being mundane scenes that most films with actual humans can't even explore in such detailed nuance. While imperfect, it's still a very worthy viewing, that might get better with multiple viewings because of its simple yet complex nature.
