Review of Anomalisa (2015) by Junelkean — 25 Jun 2017
For kids, puppets could either be eerie or playful. But for the audiences of Charlie Kaufman's Anomalisa, puppets are brought to life in order to symbolize the story of motivational speaker, Michael Stone (Thewlis), who is undergoing a psychoanalysis throughout the duration of the film. He soon meets Lisa (Leigh), who he believes could change his sorrow into happiness.
Surely expect the unexpected from the extraordinary twisted plot of the movie. It receives a huge plus by the fact of how it works not only of being an animated film but also of how realistic all the scenes are.
VERDICT: Kaufman continues to solidify his career by bringing one maverick and intoxicated narrative, where not everything is what it appears to be.
