Review of Annihilation (2018) by Raphael G — 16 Apr 2018
(Spoilers) Have they ever heard of biosuits? Rope attached to them so they can go in briefly and be brought back out? Sending in more than 5 people at a time? Sleeping in a watchtower and setting a picket - sweet, except they then set the picket on the ground with only the spot lit up so can't see anything.
.. so much for the watchtower. The entity (alien) that causes it all seems to destroy everyone before but suddenly allows itself to die - I get the whole self destruction thing but just seemed like they didn't know how to end it.
You would think someone who has been in the military (portman) would have a clue about how to actually fire a rifle or the fact her husband wouldn't have the standard issue rifle. Very classic plot with individuals turning on each other, no common sense when it comes to how they acted at any point in the movie, a promising premise and interesting ideas with gruesome effects that fell flat on its face.
Even the ending was ridiculous, would have almost made up for the movie if they gassed/shot them at the end so as to contain any potential spread.
