Review of Annie Hall (1977) by Daniel V — 16 Sep 2014

Probably Woody Allen's best, not my favorite but definitely his best. At least his best of 70's. I know Manhattan is considered his masterpiece but I think that Woody joint is slightly overrated.

Not a lot overrated but a little. Lately I've been watching a lot of 70's movies. Pretty much having seen almost every decent to great movie from 1980 til now, the 70s are largely unexplored for me.

I can see why Diane Keaton was by Woody's side so many times. It's not just their incredible chemistry, but she is very easy to fall in love. I remember being angry with a reviewer when he said she wasn't glamorous enough to play Steve Martin's wife in Father of the Bride.

I said pish posh then and I still say PISH POSH. That means bullshit by the way... I think. To sum up, Diane Keaton is beautiful and talented and was perfect for that role as she is the perfect Annie Hall to Woody's comedian Alvy Singer.

I always had something against Annie Hall because it beat Star Wars for best picture in 1977, the year I was born FYI. 37 years later I understand why it won... But I still think Star Wars should've won.
