Review of Annie Hall (1977) by James W — 25 Sep 2015
Re-watched Woody Allen's ANNIE HALL. I saw it years ago and did not like it, but I had a really nasty stomach flu the first time I saw it. It's very funny. It's a lighthearted look at a romance, how it begins, progresses, and ends.
There are some serious moments too but overall it's funny. There are some funny sight gags too. Allen up to then had only made off the wall comedies which featured lots of sight gags. This film marked the period where he started making more serious films.
The film won the Oscar for best picture. It should have gone to STAR WARS. Allen didn't attend the Oscar ceremonies because he hates awards.
