Review of Annie (2014) by Richard C — 01 May 2015
First things first. This is not the original, nor is it meant to be anything like the original. So forgetting that and looking at it as a brand new Film I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It's never going to be your serious dramatical tale but it does have a fun, lighthearted Friday night place.
a lot of effort has gone into bringing something new to the musical and comedy genre. Annie has been updated and thrust into the 21st century with reworked songs, themes and jokes relevant for today's era.
Strong performances by all although there are a few bits that stand out as being odd, or you think where did that come from but that probably has more to do with the direction than the individual. While it won't ever replace the original it will keep the story alive for at least the next generation.
