Review of Anne of the Thousand Days (1969) by Mya G — 13 Dec 2008
The best of playwright Maxwell Anderson's three attempts to destroy the Tudor dynasty. Clocking in at 145 minutes, this retelling of the Anne Boleyn saga is a full hour too long for its own good. Burton's Henry is engaging, if not definitive, and Quayle's Cardinal Wolsey is masterful, but Bujold's Anne is whiny and self-indulgent, which rather takes the sting out of her fall.
