Review of Annabelle: Creation (2017) by Paul R — 13 Aug 2017
"Annabelle Creation" is the prequel to the original "Annabelle" film which might be one of the most forgettable horror films ever made. This origin story is slightly better but suffers mainly from jump scare overload. There must be at least 20 jump scares and it becomes tiresome really fast.
The main problem with the film is that we still find out very little as to why the demon has chosen the doll as it's host, it's still never explained, and again we get a bunch of characters we care very little about.
There are some effective moments, and it is well shot and production values are high, but it's very cliche ridden and far to long at nearly 2 hours.
"The Nun" from the "Conjuring" universe seems a much better character to focus on which I believe is the next film we are getting.
Hopefully this is the last we will see of Annabelle as by his point she has certainly outstayed her welcome.
