What "Annabelle: Creation" lacks in (forgive me) creativity or genuine scares, it makes up for in spades by just simply being a watchable film within the tapestry of today's complicated horror movie landscape.
Director David F. Sandberg's previous effort, "Lights Out," may have been a more inspired piece with a bit more fun to be had as well, but the competent storytelling here does the job enough.
