David F, Sandberg's capable hands make Annabelle: Creation a far more competent film than it should be. Some genuine jump scars and some creepy tension keep this from falling into mediocrity. Overall, there are some minor script issues and some overacting at times but this scary doll prequel makes up for the less-than-average and lackluster frights of the film it precedes.
