Review of Annabelle: Creation (2017) by Lisa B — 06 Oct 2017
This is one of the scariest films I've seen in a while. It's not perfect, however: it's not terribly smart, often repeats too many of the scares from the "Conjuring" films, includes an anticlimactic end scene that seemingly forces a connection to previous Annabelle films, and frequently feels like the writers threw in everything but the kitchen sink, but the sound, visuals, editing and fantastic acting all combine for chilling effect and many extremely effective jump scares.
The upcoming "It" adaptation will have its work cut out for it in attempting to top "Annabelle: Creation" as the scariest film of 2017.
