Despite having some impressive acting from Annabelle Wallis and Alfre Woodard, Annabelle's overreliance on jump scares, having too much references to other horror films and unimpressive plot is a huge step down when compared to the genuine scares and interesting background history of The Conjuring which dealt with dramatising the supposedly real cases of the Warren couple's career in the supernatural.
