Review of Anna Karenina (2012) by Margaret W — 19 Feb 2013
Til now, I was a fan of Tom Stoppard and his brilliant writing and this book has always been in my top ten. The movie was a huge disappointment. A series of sound bites made it seem like a rushed Cliff's Notes of Tolstoy's masterpiece, staged in a way that totally distracted from the story.
The acting was a wooden as the many scenes in which the extras were frozen in position. The lovers were woefully cast. It was difficult to believe why they would have such a passion for each other. What a waste of time, talent and money.
