Review of Anna Karenina (2012) by Niloo R — 19 Jul 2014
This film is an interesting failure. It uses a device where part of it is set with the theatricality of a play, and the rest is a normal feature....I actually didn't mind the theatrical element, but wish they had used one style or the other.
Another problem is I didn't like either of the leads, Knightley & Taylor-Johnson, though the supporting cast is excellent. The saving grace and the reason it got 3 stars was the amazing production design, costumes and cinematography, this is an absolutely stunning looking film! Give it a try and decide for yourself.
