Review of Anna Karenina (2012) by James B — 07 Oct 2014
I loved this film. The stylized theatre for all scenes relating to society and society's view of itself is brilliant. Real life goes on behind-the-scenes for life that plays a supporting role to society, and goes on in nature when exploring true human experiences.
Having just re-read Anna Karenina this summer, I found it true enough to the story to captivate me. Had I never read the book, or so long ago I couldn't really remember much, I doubt I would have liked the movie as well.
I'm not sure it stands alone since it leaves so much unscripted, relying on knowledge of the book to carry the viewer's suspension of disbelief. But for me, I loved it!
