Review of Animal Kingdom (2010) by Tuukka P — 02 Mar 2011

Australian crime thriller about a young boy living with his granma and his two criminal uncles. Small scale film with an almost documentary feel to it (it is based on a true story) has some disturbing and scary moments especially as the full extent of J's on the run third uncle the Pope shows his true colors.

Jacki Weavers performance as the matriarch of the family has been given a lot of praise but the true star is definitely Frecheville who manages to convay a lot by doing (and expressing) very little. A different kind of a ganster film with a strong family twist.
