Watching this I am reminded broadly of Michael Mann films, The Wire, Candy (2006), Crash (2004), and something else... can't quite put my finger on it. It lacks any of that Hollywood grandstanding sentimentality (good thing/bad thing - depends on you), which in this case I like as it feels like that your treading through real events.
