Review of Animal Kingdom (2010) by Augustine H — 01 Oct 2011
This film is a gut-wrenching dose of reality, The storyline and all of the actors performances really makes you feel the uncomfortable atmosphere and the tension just below the surface. Jay is a quiet and somewhat impressionable teen who moves in with his grandmother and his four career criminal uncles after mother dies from a drug overdose.
Forced to participate in a crime that backfires when they are all arrested, he has to make a choice that jeopardizes the family and his girlfriend. There's pretty much no happy endings here, this is a very gritty, dark, and all too realistic film that portrays family dysfunction to the extreme.
..if this is your kind of film then check it out, I am sure you won't be disappointed.
