Whilst, overall, the story was interesting, I felt that because the director went for the bleak, miserable tone the use of slow pacing really made the film drag on and felt too slow. This was obviously done so the criminals' lifestyle is treated realistically and shown in a solemn manner.

But for much of the time this became boring, until the major plot points appear. A good crime drama, but patience is needed to be able to watch it. Also, even though Jackie Weaver was good as the crims' mother, and made us love to hate her, I don't think the performance warrants an Oscar nomination.
