While its naturalistic style creates a sense of familiarity, its increasingly ominous tone instills an unshakable feeling of dread and foreboding.
Strong performances by all -- special mention to a terrifying Ben Mendelshon and a calculated Jacki Weaver -- help to make Animal Kingdom more than just a genre film.
Destined to become an Aussie classic, this truly is a remarkable film.
