Review of Animal Kingdom (2010) by Alberto A — 04 Jul 2012
This is a great crime drama with a slow pace, as all crime dramas should be. It Tells the story of a young boy who has no other choice (technically) but to live his family's awful reality: crime. The family, headed by a castrating mother is having a downfall since the cops are monitoring all of their moves.
When I think about this movie and the events that happen in it, I can only think of the ruthless mother. Thanks to her strange humor and her overprotecting actions towards her kids, she raised them as animals. They turned out to be killers, drug dealers, and even the one kid that wasn't in those criminal sorroundings, ODed. I always say that a monster comes from another monster.
Also this film shows us the horror of following the "family business", it doesn't have to be exactly crime business, even of it's a bakery it always creates trouble within families. And what I hate, and this film shows it to us very well, is that a lot of people put family honor above human dignity and ethics.
