Review of Animal Farm (1999) by Casey L — 04 Jul 2010
A critique of the process a Communist revolution takes before it leads to ruin and eventual collapse. It is notable that the current situation in the Peoples' Republic of China (with the party member cronyism reaping bountiful rewards on the backs of working and suffering Proletariat as "some animals are more equal than others"), with increasing dissent from the working and farming class.
Snowball and Napoleon are two trouble making pigs who are inspired to revolt against Farmer Jones. Jones a lazy and slothful drunkard has neglected his farm and as such conditions on the "Jones Farm Manor", deteriorate to the point that the animals suffer. The dying words of the old Major (a aging pig, who has observed the fate of his fellow animal kin, begs the animals to save themselves).
A egalitarian animal utopia of plenty is proclaimed....... With the laws that: All Animals are equal, no animal shall drink, no animal shall sleep on a human bed, 4 legs good 2 legs baaaaaaad. But it seems "some animals are just more equal than others".
