Review of Animal (2014) by Thomas W — 06 Aug 2014
OMG - WTF? No, seriously. Animal is a new horror, creature feature film about a group of young adult friends out for a camping adventure in the woods. When they take a wrong turn and are out later than they expected one evening, they hear and encounter a strange beast the likes of which they've never seen before (nor had we until now .
.. luckily). The "animal" is clearly a man in a rubber suit with clumps of stuff sewn/glued onto him but for the purpose of the film it is supposed to be a deadly monster. The young bunch are chased to a boarded up cabin in the woods where a few others have been forced to take shelter and the entire bunch of them finds themselves terrorized while they debate and argue their best plan of action.
This film is meant to provide some (literal) cheap thrills as the cast members get picked off one after the other like most other creature/slasher films. Joey Lauren Adams (Chasing Amy), Keke Palmer (Akeelah and the Bee), Elizabeth Gillies ('Victorious') and Paul Iacono (G.
B.F.) all co-star in this sad little production more worthy of groans than praise.
